Repetitive strain injury (RSI) is described as pain caused by repeated movement and overuse of a body part, most often affecting shoulders, elbows, forearms, wrists, hands, and fingers. It is driven by cumulative overload of muscles, tendons, and sometimes nerves, with symptoms typically developing gradually. The condition is typically linked to repetitive tasks (e.g., typing, assembly-line work), poor posture, and tool vibration, and it often improves with activity modification and graded return rather than prolonged rest.
Signs & symptoms commonly include pain (burning/aching/throbbing), stiffness, weakness, and tingling or numbness.
